How It Started
The Online Division was born from a simple observation: talented students across South Africa were being held back not by ability, but by access. Rural students couldn't find specialized tutors. Schools struggled with assessment administration. Service providers needed better booking systems. Training providers needed better ways to deliver content.
Founded by educators and technologists who experienced these challenges firsthand, we set out to build technology that addresses real problems. Virtual Tutor SA was designed as a multi-tenant distance learning platform — giving tertiary institutions, NGOs, private education providers, and corporate training academies their own branded environment for delivering virtual classes, competence courses, and assessments. The JDS QA system emerged from educators telling us they spent more time on paperwork than teaching.
Today, we continue to build platforms that make education more accessible, efficient, and effective. Every feature we develop is informed by feedback from the educators and students we serve.
